But I also have a P0868 which is "trans fluid pressure low". I'm wondering if your symptoms were anything like mine? Because I do have a P1778 code. Throttle will sometimes not respond when leaving a stop sign, i have to keep pushing the throttle down but no RPM increase, then all of a sudden, it responds and opens the throttle and shoots away like I'm trying to race someone. Will go into a neutral state at a stop sign, then bangs into drive when trying to leave the stop sign. If I drive it more aggressively, 1/2 throttle acceleration, 80 mph, then it starts to act up. It works great if I drive it easy, light acceleration (1/4 throttle or less), under 60 mph. I hope this helps and if you have questions, please feel free to ask.īenzolorenzo, I am having some problems with my CVT. (clean with brake cleaner while you're at it)Ĥ)remove the valve body of about 11 boltsĥ)remove the stepper motor from the top of the valve body (the side you can't see with the pan off) 2 boltsħ)take a piece of dental floss about a foot long and hold the spring-loaded arm back against the stepper motor and return the valve body back to the transmission.Ĩ)after you have a few bolts in place, remove the floss before you tighten them all the way.ĩ)reconnect the trans filter and bolt it back into place.ġ0)rejoin the fluid pan to the transmission and replace it with quality CVT fluid. Here is how I saved thousands and bought a $35 part.ģ)remove the 3 bolts holding the filter. 20k miles later, still no code, no whine, and no lock up. Lastly, I took a gamble I went to eBay and ordered a stepper motor. Still, I had the part in hand how could it not be serviceable? went to the dealership, told the same thing, and was told I needed to buy a new transmission as they are not "serviceable" funny. Now with a part in hand, I went to my local parts store and was told we don't sell that part it's not even in our system. I watched a youtube video the only one I could find was a Nissan Armada, but I thought, what the hell? I drained the fluid, dropped the pan, yanked out the valve body, and found that little bastard that gave me such trouble. Since I didn't have $2500 for a new trans, let alone $800 for the valve body, I decided to look into this further. you need a new transmission, or you need a new valve body. I searched far and wide, low and high, only to be told 2 things. Took 31 calendar days.About 6 months ago, I received the death code P1778 (stepper motor) in my 2008 Altima. CVT transmission was replaced under warranty at completely no cost Symptoms would start after an hour on the highway. Replaced transmission.ĬVT was slipping and grabbing at highway speeds during extended trips. My Cube started hesitating while driving, with erratic acceleration and deceleration. Had it back with a new transmission Tuesday afternoon. Called the shop and took it in on Monday. No charge!ĬVT transmission "surged" (jump of 300 to 500 rpm) every 2-3 seconds. Gave me a car to use while they replaced the trans. Dealer checked it out, said it needed a new transmission. Transmission was making a growling noise, most noticeable at low speeds. Transmission is making a buzzing sound.they checked the fluid level and said if it gets worse bring it back. Need to replace the entire transmission (cause: RPM will shoot up momentarily without touching the gas pedal when driving with constant speed) Nissan paid for half considering factory warranty on the cvt was just out at 120k. Trans was making a noise like the flying car in Jetsons cartoon took it to dealer who determined internal failure and replaced trans under warranty.Ĭvt transmission failed at 123k. New tranny at 160,000? Bullshit! My last Nissan product EVER!! Dealer said it needed new transmission at cost of $5,000.
